Science as they say is “An intellectual and practical activity to study something is a systematic process”. I never understood why more people want to become a rock star, TV artist, singers you name it and not an astronaut or a scientist.

I believe the problems lies in how the science as a subject is communicated and explained from the grass root level, data, numbers does not excite common people, entertainment, emotions and influential description or story telling do.

We can just call it “popular science “. Usually most scientists will not like the term, but it is obvious that most of them ended up in their respected fields of science with some “popular science movement” or event. Keeping that fun party in mind, we have come up with these five amazing science facts that will inspire you to research more about these topics and understand and discover more every day.

Mind blowing science facts

The length of our DNA

Believe it or not there is sufficient DNA in a human body that we can take at least 17 round trips back from the sun to Pluto if it is combined and stretched. Each human cell in an average body holds 23 DNA molecules. Each DNA molecule of extent 1.7 to 8.5 cm in length when uncoiled with an average size of 5 cm.

1B - Science Facts

If we uncoil each DNA in each cell of about 37 trillion cells in the human body. The total distance it will take you will be 2×1014 meters, which will mean an equal amount of distance to cover 17 Pluto round trips.

The photon journey

Before getting it released from the core of the atom the photon actually travels some distance, and then from the core of the sun to the surface of the sun it has approximately (696000) km to travel before it will find itself in the space.

In short the fact is that the photon actually takes millions of years to travel from the core to the surface of the sun. And if you understand it correctly the light receive it today may be formed million a year ago.

A walk to remember

A walk to remember - Science Facts

Ever wondered how much will you be walking in your entire life, well a regular person who reasonably active take near to 7500 steps per day, if someone lives for 80 years and sustain this average he or she will be walking about 219000000 steps in his lifetime. If we calculate it right an average walk will be a distance of 112000 miles which is around equal of walking around the earth 5 times.

The Betelgeuse

The super giant star is one of the largest kinds in the universe, located in the constellation Orion is about 430 light years away from earth. It is about 10000 times bigger compared to the size of our sun.

If Betelgeuse place where the sun is it radius will extent out to the mars. Well the fact is if Betelgeuse would explode in super nova our sky will light continuously for 2 months.

How much you know your universe

We have the our Solar System which has the inner and outer planets, then we have Kuiper belt, Oort cloud, Alpha Centauri star, Perseus Arm, Milky Way galaxy, Andromeda galaxy, other nearby galaxies, the cosmic web, cosmic microwave radiation, and invisible plasma produced by the Big Bang at the very edges.

How much you know your universe - Science Facts

The known universe is made up of 50,000,000,000 galaxies. There are between 100,000,000,000 and 1,000,000,000,000 stars in a normal galaxy. In the Milky Way alone there might be as many 100,000,000 planets. Still think you’re alone?
